A 45-year-old man is accused of aggravated sexual assault after an elderly woman was attacked in a seniors home Sunday.
Police say a suite at the Edmonton Chinese Seniors Lodge located at 95th St. and 102 A Ave. was broken into. The victim suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital.
Investigators say two officers not directly involved in the investigation recognized the description of the suspect and provided investigators with the name of a possible suspect. The suspect was arrested Sunday evening.
Marvin Arthur Witzaney of Edmonton is now facing several charges.
"In one instance, a happen chance change room conversation that led a member to remember, after some consideration, recalled an individual that he had dealt with in the past," said Const. Jared Buhler with the Edmonton Police Service.
Witzaney is scheduled to appear in Edmonton court on May 25th.
