Edmonton police said a man was in custody, after he was allegedly involved in a hit and run that left a woman, believed to be his partner, in critical condition.

Police said officers were called to a parking lot in the area of 131 Avenue and Fort Road at about 12:35 a.m. Monday.

According to police, witnesses said a couple had been fighting when they left the business, the Century Casino, it’s alleged the male struck the woman with a vehicle before he left the scene.

The woman was rushed to hospital by paramedics, where she remained in critical condition – suffering life-threatening injuries in the incident.

Charges are pending against the man, who was taken into police custody – his name is not being released. The Domestic Offender Crime Section and the Major Collision Investigation Unit are investigating.
