A Sherwood Park man is facing drug production and trafficking charges, after police searched his home Monday.

Strathcona County RCMP said officers from the county Drug Unit searched a home located in the Strathcona Village area of Sherwood Park on Monday, at about 7:30 a.m.

RCMP officers, with the help of the ALERT Green Team conducted the search as part of an investigation stemming from tips from the public.

Inside the home, police found about 85 marijuana plants, along with equipment used in the cultivation of the plants.

As a result, RCMP arrested and charged David Chevalier, 28, with production of marijuana and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

Chevalier has since been released from custody, and has been scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday in Sherwood Park.

RCMP are using this case as a reminder to residents to call the 24-hour drug tip line at 780-410-4357, to report any type of drug activity in the area.
