Officials with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) said a variety of weapons were seized, and a man was in custody following a joint investigation with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

ALERT said brass knuckles, stun guns and large bowie knives were intercepted and seized by the CBSA, Greater Toronto Area Region, at the International Mail Processing Centre – in total, 15 brass knuckles, three stun guns and nine knives were seized.

The package had originated in the United States, and was destined for Bonnyville.

ALERT followed up on the seizure, and arrested Barrie Dinning, 51, on October 21.

Dinning has been charged with two counts each of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a weapon, and importation of a prohibited weapon.
