Edmonton police said a man was in custody and had been charged, in connection to the stabbing death of a man at a downtown nightclub in May, 2013.

On Friday, police said Daryl Pierre Rivest, 42, was arrested in Ontario and would be brought back to Edmonton to face charges stemming from the death of Justin Mark Samuels, 25.

Samuels died after he was stabbed in a downtown Edmonton nightclub in the area of 107 Street and 104 Avenue in the early hours of May 15, 2013.

Rivest was arrested at about 9:15 a.m. Friday with help from officers with the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police, EPS said.

The accused is facing charges of first degree murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

EPS said the investigation continues.
