Edmonton police said a man had been charged in connection to a series of sexual assaults dating back to January 2012.

Police said between January 2012 and October 2014, officers in southwest Edmonton received several reports of assaults in the Terwillegar area.

Investigators found the multiple incidents could be linked to one suspect.

Finally, on December 7, 2014, officers were called to a break and enter and sexual assault – and one male suspect was arrested and charged.

That suspect then became a person of interest in the previous incidents in the same area – and investigators found further evidence to connect that suspect to them.

The male suspect was arrested, again, without incident on Thursday, February 26.

Now, Mark Moriarty, 31, is facing ten charges including choking, two counts of sexual assault, three counts of assault, three counts of disguise with intent and a charge of robbery.

The charges stem from five separate incidents, from June 2012, two incidents in January 2014, an incident in May 2014 and another in June 2014.

A source told CTV News late Friday that Moriarty was granted bail for $200.

It’s believed Moriarty may be connected to other assault files - police said they're look at as many as twelve other complaints.
