Edmonton Police have charged a man in his 20s in connection to the May 30 slaying of a man in his 50s, who was found unconscious in a central Edmonton park.

Detectives have charged Melvin Simon John Mitchell, 23, with second degree murder and possession of an offensive weapon, in connection to the slaying of Curtis Dugray, 51.

On May 30, at about 10 p.m., officers were called to the area of 99 Avenue and 111 Street and found a man unconscious in a park in the area.

Paramedics responded and pronounced the man dead on the scene.

The Medical Examiner confirmed the man died as a result of blunt and sharp force trauma.
