Edmonton police said a man in his 30s was facing charges, following a collision involving a pedestrian from early March, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries days later.

Back on Friday, March 3, 2017, at about 8:25 a.m., officers were called to a collision in the area of 128 Avenue and 101 Street.

Police said a 64-year-old male pedestrian was crossing the avenue between 97 Street and 101 Street when a van heading eastbound struck him.

Paramedics were called in; they treated and transported the man to hospital with life-threatening injuries – he succumbed to his injuries in hospital on Wednesday, March 8.

On Wednesday, March 29, police said Christopher Ralph Smallwood, 31, had been charged with careless driving, and was issued a promise to appear.
