A man was shot at least twice Monday morning in west Edmonton.

City police say they responded to a reported shooting near 184 Street and Callingwood Road just after 7:00 a.m.

Edmonton Police Service officials said reports indicated a 33-year-old man had sustained a gunshot wound.

Officers arrived to find a man suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen. He was treated on the scene then sent to hospital in serious condition.

The suspected shooter was arrested at the scene and a pistol was recovered. Police said the suspect was detained by witnesses until officers arrived.

Investigators said it’s believed the incident was not a random act, and they’re not looking for additional suspects.
