Red Deer RCMP are investigating after a man was shot following a home invasion.

Sgt. Jim Moran told CTV News they responded to calls of gunshots in the Bower area around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Officers found a man in his 30s had been shot in the shoulder.

“He left the residence and he walked around the neighbourhood trying to get people to help him out,” Sgt. Moran explained.

He said the victim was being treated in the hospital and  was expected to be okay.

“He is expected to make a full recovery.”

Police said the shooting happened after a break in at a home on Barner Avenue.

“We do know that three individuals wearing ski mask and balaclavas broke into the residence through the back door.

RCMP are hoping to find some eyewitnesses in the area.

“There were three fellows observed fleeing the scene on foot.

“We believe it is targeted but the investigation is still ongoing at this point in time.”
