The City of Edmonton is asking drivers and pedestrians to be cautious while they run tests on the Metro line this weekend.

Officials said trains would be running between MacEwan and NAIT stations Saturday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. while the new signaling system was being tested.

Intersections along the line will be periodically closed including:

  • 105 St. & 105 Ave.
  • 105 St. & 106 Ave.
  • 105 St. & 107 Ave.
  • Kingsway & 104 St.
  • 111 Ave. & 106 St.
  • Princess Elizabeth Ave. &106 St.

The intersections will be closed for several minutes at a time and flag people will be directing traffic due to these closures.

The Metro line has been scheduled to open in early 2015.

Officials expect it will add over 13,000 weekday riders to the LRT network.
