A 61-year-old woman has been charged with careless driving in relation to a fatal crash that happened more than a month ago.

Edmonton Police investigators allege Candace Gairdner was driving northbound on 82 Street, on the morning of September 2, when she blew through a red light and crashed into a Jeep that was heading westbound on 122 Avenue.

Gairdner then allegedly also crashed into a third vehicle.

Two female passengers in the vehicle driven by Gairdner were taken to hospital, but a 64-year-old woman passed away. The man driving the Jeep suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The Edmontn Police Services says as of October 6, 29 people have been killed in Edmonton traffic collision.
