The charges against an Edmonton man who was accused of stealing thousands of unique items have been stayed.

Jason Schell was originally facing over 200 charges after police seized thousands of allegedly stolen items from his home in the Cumberland area.

Police used four five-tonne trucks to remove the items in August, 2013.

Investigators said they believed the items had been stolen from homes, businesses and vehicles.

Some of the items seized were:

  • 24 men’s watches
  • 13 sets of tires and rims
  • 46 motorcycle helmets
  • Hundreds of gift certificates for home improvement stores valued at about $13,000
  • 19 sets of golf clubs, five pallets of assorted liquor valued at about $35,000

Prosecutors said the charges were stayed because there was no reasonable likelihood of a conviction.
