Several roads will be closed in Edmonton over the long weekend as the World Triathlon Grand Final takes over William Hawrelak Park.

Drivers travelling around the University of Alberta area or downtown have been asked to plan ahead to avoid delays.

Officials have advised motorists to use Whitemud Drive, Anthony Henday Drive, the Low Level Bride, James MacDonald Bridge and 107 Avenue as alternative routes.

Saturday, August 30

  • Groat Road from 87 Avenue to 107 Avenue
  • High Level Bridge / 109 Street from 87 Avenue to 97 Avenue
  • 97 Avenue from 105 Street to 109 Street (Travel delays in effect)

Sunday, August 31

  • Emily Murphy Park Road from Saskatchewan Drive to Hawrelak Park
  • Groat Road from 87 Avenue to 107 Avenue
  • High Level Bridge / 109 Street from 87 Avenue to 97 Avenue
  • 97 Avenue from 105 Street to 109 Street (Travel Delays in effect)

Monday, Sept. 1

  • Groat Road from 87 Avenue to 107 Avenue
  • Emily Murphy Park Road from Saskatchewan Drive to Hawrelak Park
  • Saskatchewan Drive from 87 Avenue to 116 Street
