Investigators with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) said a months-long investigation in Grande Prairie had wrapped up with an arrest, and one of the largest drug seizures in the city’s history.

Officers with ALERT Grande Prairie executed a search warrant at an area home on October 23 – following a five-month investigation.

In total, nearly a quarter million dollars’ worth of drugs was seized, including the largest amount of fentanyl ever seized by ALERT.

Seized items included: 1.8 kilograms of cocaine, 1,866 fentanyl tablets, 21 oxycodone tablets, $1,800 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of crime, and two long guns and a replica firearm.

In addition, a cocaine press, chemical additives, a money counter and other evidence of drug trafficking.

Mark Richard Phillips, 26, was arrested at the time of the search, and is facing four drug-related charges.

The investigation started in May, 2014.
