Edmonton police have charged twenty seven year old Sean Jennings in connection with the shooting death of Alor Deng on July 20, 2014.
In addition to the charge of second degree murder and four other firearms-related charges relating to the death of Deng, Jennings has also been charged with first degree murder for an unrelated shooting that occurred in Richmond BC on October 2, 2014.
In a news release, Edmonton police say a collaborative policing effort between Edmonton and British Columbia police members was responsible for the arrest.
During the homicide investigations, police say they've obtained additional evidence related to a number of very serious and violent crimes in both Edmonton and in lower mainland British Columbia.
Over fifty criminal charges have been laid on two individuals as a direct result of the collaborative effort. Police expect other individuals will be charged in the coming weeks.
