Edmonton police are investigating the second motorcycle fatality of the year.

Officers responded to a serious collision between a motorcycle and a pick-up truck in the area of Princess Elizabeth Avenue and 106 Street around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators said the motorcycle was travelling westbound on Princess Elizabeth Avenue while the truck was heading eastbound on the same road. The truck proceeded to turn left onto 106 Street when it collided with the motorcycle.

Both occupants of the motorcycle were taken to hospital.

The 48-year-old male driver succumbed to his injuries Friday.

A 46-year-old female passenger remains in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials said they believe charges may be laid following the investigation.
