Edmonton police said Tuesday that investigators with the Homicide Unit had taken over the investigation of a missing person case.

Gamteysa Muhamed, 21, was last seen Sunday, September 7, walking through the Dickinsfield neighbourhood in the area of 146 Avenue and 72 Street.

Family members believe Muhamed left his home that afternoon to watch a football game with some friends, but he never returned.

EPS detectives said it’s believed Muhamed was involved in some high-risk behaviours that may have contributed to his disappearance.

Muhamed is described as:

  • Medium-brown complexion
  • 183 cm (6’) tall
  • 84 kg (185 lbs)
  • Short brown hair

He was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, with a white zipper and blue jeans.

Investigators are asking Edmontonians to check their properties before snow begins to accumulate.

Anyone with information on Muhamed’s whereabouts is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service non-emergency line at 780-423-4567 or #377 on a mobile phone.

Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
