Edmonton police said Friday that a convicted sexual offender is being released from an Alberta institution, and is planning on living in the Edmonton area.

EPS said Ronald Joseph Fabien is set to be released from the Bowden Institution, after completing a three year, three month sentence for sexual assault and failing to comply with recognizance.

Police said Fabien is considered to be a sexual offender who poses a risk of significant harm to the community – he will be living in the Edmonton area, and will be monitored closely by the EPS Behavioural Assessment Unit.

Fabien is described as:

  • 183 cm (6’) tall
  • 93 kg (205 lbs)
  • Brown eyes
  • Black hair

Police said the information was being released after careful deliberation of privacy concerns and related issues, in the believe that it’s in the public interest to inform the community – and is not to encourage residents to engage in vigilante action.
