The Edmonton Eskimos have traded quarterback Matt Nichols to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The trade will see the Esks receiving a conditional 7th round pick in the 2017 CFL Draft for Nichols.
Originally signed as a free agent in 2010, Nichols had 12 starts in 45 games with the Eskimos.
A string of injuries forced Nichols onto the sidelines for the better part of the 2012 and 2013 seasons, but Nichols attempted a comeback in 2014 and 2015.
Most recently, Nichols led the team to a 30-5 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders on August 1, 2015.
Nichols joined the Eskimos from the Dallas Cowboys, where he attended training camp and appeared in two pre-season games with the team.
