Two Australian men, with ties to Edmonton, are feared missing in Mexico as family members and friends haven’t heard from them for more than a week.

Dean Lucas and Adam Coleman are originally from Western Australia but have spent numerous summers working in the construction industry in Edmonton, according to Dean's girlfriend, Josie Cox.

She said Dean volunteered for the Edmonton Humane Society and Adam spent two winters working at a ski hill in the Canadian Rockies.

Their last confirmed sighting was November 20 at 10 p.m. while disembarking from a ferry in Topolobampo, Mexico.

“They had solid plans and reservations to be in Guadalajara by Saturday 21st November but never arrived,” said Josie Cox.

“They'd been keeping in touch with us on Facebook the whole way down, and last Friday they just stopped,” said Chris Coutu, another close friend in Edmonton.

Friends suspect the avid surfers were camping and searching for areas to surf while making their way to Guadalajara. Dean and Adam were driving a white and blue campervan with an Alberta license plate.

“They have been reported to authorities and are now officially classed as missing persons,” said Cox.

Cox is working with Adam’s girlfriend who is already in Mexico, trying to find leads.

On Saturday morning, they found some distressing information online. Two stories, written in Spanish, have been posted with a picture of a burned out van that looks like the one that belonged to the men, in an area that they could have travelled through.

“And there was two bodies found inside. They haven't confirmed what sex, who they are or anything. They also found an electric stove. The boys are carrying a gas stove, not electric,” said Cox.

Cox is heading to Mexico on Sunday where she and Adam’s girlfriend will search for the pair.

“We'll be going day to day and any new information that comes in we'll probably just be going from there,” said Cox.
