Four people have been sent to hospital with gunshot wounds, after a pair of separate shootings downtown and in the west end.

Edmonton officers first responded to a call about a single person shot outside a convenience store, near 95 Avenue and 172 Street, around midnight.

Investigators say a man was walking north of the convenience store when someone in vehicle driving by allegedly shot him. Police believe the victim and the suspect knew each other and injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.

City police were then called out, around 2:30 a.m., to reports of shots fired in the downtown core. They say three shooting victims were found, near 109 Street and Jasper Avenue, and rushed to hospital with what's believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

109 Street, from Jasper Avenue to 103 Avenue, has been cordoned off and police warn the morning commute will be impacted by the investigation.
