As the Eskimos and Stampeders prepare to go head to head in the Battle of Alberta, the mayors of both cities are also putting their civic pride on the line for a good cause.

Don Iveson and Naheed Nenshi made a bet via Twitter on Friday to benefit the less fortunate. If the Eskimos are the winners of the Western Final, Nenshi will donate 100 pounds of food to Edmonton’s Food Bank, if the Stampeders are victorious, Iveson will make a donation to the Calgary Food Bank.

Football fans and residents alike have taken up the cause on Twitter, vowing to contribute to the cause. “Make that 125 lbs. Our family will add to 100. Challenge other #YEG citizens.” Stephanie Cordova tweeted.

The Eskimos and the Stampeders face off at 2:30pm.
