RCMP have charged a 35-year-old after he allegedly fled police and broke into a residence in northern Alberta.

Officials said the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Friday in Beaverlodge after officers attempted to stop a vehicle that they believed was stolen.

The suspect allegedly fled on foot and broke into a home.

Officers were able to get the female occupant of the residence out and contain the area.

They then entered the home and arrested the male suspect.

Officials said there was a minor altercation during the arrest but no one was injured.

The man remains in police custody and is facing nine charges.
