A man was arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle and assaulting police while attempting to flee a traffic stop Thursday, Blackfalds RCMP said.

Mounties received a public tip about a stolen Dodge Ram in Red Deer late afternoon. Three RCMP vehicles tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver, 19-year-old Bryan Lawrence Moffitt attempted to drive away and hit all three cars.

He then tried to run away from the scene, but he was caught by a police member.

One of the officers was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and has been released.

Moffitt is facing 10 charges, including three counts of assaulting police, nine counts of gun-related charges, 11 counts of possession of stolen property, and 14 counts of youth probation breaches.

He is schedule to appear in court August 2 in Red Deer.
