RCMP west of Edmonton have arrested and charged a man in connection to the death of a New Brunswick who was found dead along a major roadway in west of Stony Plain in late September.

Spruce Grove/Stony Plain RCMP said Garrett Michael Oshvalda, 55, was arrested October 17, and is facing two charges including second degree murder.

RCMP told CTV News the second charge, of neglect of duty regarding a dead body, stemmed from the manner in which the victim’s body was disposed of by the suspect.

The charges stem from the death of Allen Neil Wilson, 18.

Wilson’s remains were found along the Yellowhead west of Stony Plain on September 21, 2014.

RCMP said the victim and the accused knew each other.

Police said at the time of his death, Wilson had been living and working in Alberta, but was originally from New Brunswick.
