A man was in hospital Monday morning, with life threatening injuries, after an ATV crash in north Edmonton Sunday evening.

Police said the collision happened just before 6 p.m., near 135 Street and 130 Avenue.

“A male was travelling northbound in the alley, lost control of the ATV he was riding, he was not wearing his helmet,” Cst. Nadene Selewich said. “He hit a fence post, lost control, and flipped over and is now in hospital with life threatening injuries.”

Witnesses reported seeing the man, 30, doing tricks on the ATV before the crash.

Police said driving an ATV inside city limits is illegal.

At last word, officers were working to determine who owned the ATV. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, and officers are still working to determine if alcohol is as well.
