Edmonton police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit at a bus stop over the weekend.

Police said at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday, officers in the Northwest Division were called to the area of 127 Street and 133A Avenue, after receiving reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.

When officers arrived, they found a 46-year-old man who had been hit by a van.

Reports indicated the driver of the van, a 40-year-old man, was heading south on 127 Street, when it jumped the curb on the west side, continuing on the sidewalk before hitting the other man, who was sitting at a bus stop.

The pedestrian was dragged, and suffered severe injuries.

The man was treated and taken to hospital by paramedics – at last word he was in serious condition with a number of injuries police described as debilitating.

No charges have been laid against the driver, but investigators believe alcohol and drugs may have been a factor in the crash.
