Edmonton police said Monday evening that a man in his 20s had to be taken to hospital, after he was hit by a car while crossing the street.

Police said the incident happened at about 5:40 p.m. in the northbound lanes of 114 Street, at 78 Avenue.

The pedestrian, identified only as a male in his 20s, was rushed to hospital with unknown injuries, police said.

Police are investigating, and told CTV News the incident happened at a marked, signal crosswalk – it’s believed it was a low-speed impact, police said the vehicle was driving at about 40 kilometres per hour at the time.
