Edmonton police said a series of break-and-enters in southwest Edmonton were under investigation, and residents in those areas were advised to take measures to protect their belongings.

Police said twelve incidents had been reported in the Rutherford and Riverbend neighbourhoods between May 14 and 17 – it’s believed two male suspects targeted unlocked vehicles and took cash, small electronics, sunglasses and garage door openers.

The openers were then used to access garages attached to homes in the neighbourhoods, and property such as bicycles and contents of vehicles parked in the garages was stolen.

One of the suspects is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Between 15 and 21-years-old
  • Between 140 and 170 lbs
  • Wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a lighter hood

The other suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Between 15 and 21-years-jold
  • Wearing a black hooded sweatshirt

Residents in those areas have been warned to secure their property, remove valuables and garage door openers from vehicles parked outside.
