Edmonton police said officers were called to an apartment building just north of the downtown core late Thursday morning – and found a woman suffering from serious injuries.

Officers were called to the apartment building located at 106 Avenue and 105 Street at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

An Edmonton Police Service spokesperson said a maintenance person found an injured woman at that location, and police were called to help EMS crews.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries – and officers remained on the scene for several hours.

“Right now, it appears to be an incident that is focused right now within the apartment complex and that’s where the detectives are at this point of focusing their investigation, any information that comes, in which will determine if there is any kind of ripple effects to the immediate area,” Sgt. Steve Sharpe with EPS said.

Anyone with information that can help investigators is asked to contact police.
