Edmonton police said officers were investigating after shots were heard in the city’s downtown core.

Police said at about 3:40 a.m. Friday, officers were called to the area of 103 A Avenue and 93 Street, after a man was shot a number of times.

Paramedics arrived, then treated the man and rushed him to hospital.

The man underwent surgery Friday, and at last word was in serious but stable condition.

The incident is not believed to be random – and investigators are looking for more information.
