Edmonton police are investigating after a trailer filled with special needs ski equipment was stolen from a property this week.

Police said at some point in the evening Tuesday, November 25, an unknown suspect approached a cargo trailer parked in the back driveway of a home at 119 Avenue and 44 Street.

It’s alleged that suspect cut the locks securing the trailer, hitched it up to a vehicle – believed to be a truck – and drove off.

The owner of the trailer noticed it was missing and called police Wednesday.

The trailer is described as:

  • 2011 Mirage Cargo Craft Trailer
  • Single axle, 10’ long
  • White

The trailer’s estimated value is $3,000, police didn’t have a photo of the trailer to release.

That trailer contained cross-country ski equipment for disabled athletes, worth about $12,000, and V-boards for making trails in the snow, valued at about $25,000.

“We’re asking the public to be on the lookout for the ski equipment, which is quite distinctive, and could be dumped in a back alley or property somewhere” Acting Staff Sgt. Pat Bruni said in a press release. “It’s also possible that the equipment could be up for sale online.”
