Edmonton police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect, believed to have been behind a sexual assault in early September.

Police said on Tuesday, September 2, officers were called to a reported sexual assault at 1:30 a.m. in the area of 95 Street and 101 Avenue.

Investigators said a 56-year-old woman was walking in the area, when it’s alleged she was approached and grabbed by an unknown male as she tried to enter an apartment building.

The male reportedly threatened and sexually assaulted the woman, who struggled and screamed for help.

The suspect then fled westbound on foot from that building – the woman had sustained minor injuries in the attack.

EPS said the suspect is described as:

  • Male in his late teens or early 20s
  • About 183 cm (6’) tall
  • Thin build
  • Brown hair
  • Small, narrow eyes

The suspect was also wearing a dark blue, or black spring jacket with a red stripe down the outer sleeve.

Anyone with information that could help police is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567 or #377 on a mobile phone.
