Edmonton police said they’re asking for help tracking down a suspect believed to have been behind a series of reported assaults and robberies at bus stops on the south side.

Police said they’re looking for a male suspect, who is believed to be behind four recent personal robberies and assaults.

Investigators say in each of the incidents, the targets were either waiting for public transit or just getting off of public transit at stops in southeast and southwest Edmonton in the late afternoon or evening – each of the incidents saw the female targets assaulted, and their purses stolen.

The first incident reportedly took place Wednesday, November 18 at 6:45 p.m., it’s believed a 78-year-old woman was approached in the area of 25 Avenue and 109 Street. Then, the next day at about 5:15 p.m., a 65-year-old woman was in the area of 57 Avenue and 111 Street where she was attacked.

On Saturday, November 21, at 5:25 p.m. a 58-year-old woman was at the Southgate ETS Terminal in the area of 51 Avenue and 111 Street when she was also targeted.

Finally, a 54-year-old woman was approached in the area of the Lakewood transit terminal on Sunday, November 22 at 8:40 p.m.

EPS said the women were only able to provide general descriptions of the assailant; the suspect is being described as a male, believed to be in his 20s, with a thin build. The suspect was reportedly wearing dark clothing at the time of the robberies.

Anyone with information that could help police identify the suspect is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service non-emergency line at 780-423-4567 or #377 on a mobile phone.
