Hundreds of schools are under construction in Alberta, and the provincial government launched a website Tuesday to allow Albertans to get an instant update on their progress.
The Capital Projects include new schools, and plans to modernize a number of facilities.
Premier Jim Prentice made the announcement in Calgary Tuesday morning – in front of a school under construction.
Prentice defended progress made since the fall of 2014, maintaining the $2 billion allotted in the recent budget means construction on schools will continue.
“I know that Albertans have been looking for evidence of the construction of these schools, we certainly hear a lot of discussion about shovels in the ground, I think it’s fair to say that it takes some three years to build a school,” Prentice said.
