Police in northern Alberta are investigating an early morning armed robbery at a Grande Prairie convenience store, and are trying to identify and find two suspects.

Grande Prairie RCMP said on Tuesday morning, at about 1:15, two males entered the store in the Lakeland Drive area of the city – one of them produced a handgun, and demanded the clerk empty the cash register.

Afterwards, RCMP said it’s not clear where the suspects fled.

Police said the male suspects are both described as being 157 cm (5’2”) tall, and both were wearing all-black clothing.

One suspect was wearing red gloves and a red bandana, and he was wearing a distinctive hooded sweatshirt with a white smiley face on the front.

The second suspect was wearing a black bandana to cover his face, ski or motorcross-type goggles and white sneakers.

Anyone with information that could help RCMP identify the suspects is asked to call Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-830-5701 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
