An RCMP Police Service Dog, who was left without a handler and partner after his death in Moncton in June, has found a new partner, and he’s set to continue his career with the RCMP.

RCMP Police Dog Services officials said PSD Danny, whose partner Cst. David Ross was one of three killed on June 4 in Moncton, had been paired up with a new partner over the summer.

After his partner’s death, RCMP said Danny returned to the RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre (PDSTC) in Innisfail, Alberta and was teamed up with a new and experienced handler.

In early August, Danny and his new handler returned for training, and they’re expected to return to police work in the near future.

RCMP said Danny was born September 7, 2011 in Innisfail, and his training started when he was eight weeks old, he was paired with Cst. Ross in December, 2012, and the pair graduated from training together in April, 2013 before heading to Moncton to work.

Officials said PSD Danny’s new handler and new location would not be shared with the public – RCMP said Danny’s career with the RCMP is expected to continue for another five years.
