Northern Alberta RCMP said the investigation into a fatal crash on a highway this week had wrapped up.

On Sunday, at about 9:30 p.m., officers were called to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 881, about 150 kilometres north of Lac La Biche.

Four people were in the car involved in the crash – one of them was pronounced dead at the scene, the other three were taken to hospital.

On Wednesday, RCMP said the driver, and the deceased, was a 26-year-old Red Deer man.

His three passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash – and by Wednesday, they had all been released from hospital.

Investigators said the vehicle was travelling northbound on Highway 881 when it went off the road and rolled into the ditch.

Police said speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
