A Red Deer man has turned himself in to police in connection with the stabbing death of a 31-year-old man at a pub earlier this month.

Daniel Boyd Sawyer, 31, has been charged with second degree murder following the death of Alan Beach on November 18.

Sawyer is scheduled to appear in a Red Deer courtroom on Tuesday.

RCMP officers were called out to a disturbance at a bar shortly after 9 p.m. last Wednesday. Beach was found suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Mounties continue to search for a second suspect in Beach’s death. He’s described as a Caucasian man, about 30-years-old with short dark hair and clean shaven. He’s about five feet ten inches tall and 200 pounds.

Police believe the suspect was travelling in a black pickup. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark coloured jacket, dark pants and a dark coloured baseball cap with a white logo on the front.

On Sunday afternoon, investigators released a still shot of surveillance video from the Blarney Stone Pub in Red Deer of a man believed to be the second suspect.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the RCMP Red Deer City Detachment at 403 406- 2300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
