Officials with the Oilers Entertainment Group announced Wednesday that two former high-ranking members of the Edmonton Police Service had been hired to run security at the new Rogers Place.

OEG said Kevin Galvin had been hired as Senior Vice President Enterprise Security and Risk management, and Darcy Strang had been hired as Vice President, Security Operations Bureau.

Both Galvin and Strang are 28-year veterans of the Edmonton Police Service – Galvin most recently served as Superintendent of Downtown Division.

Strang most recently worked with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT), he was seconded from the EPS to serve as Inspector of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit.

OEG said the first priority for the two new hires will be to develop a security plan for Rogers Place and the Ice District.
