It may still be summer for most but more than a thousand students will head back to school Monday.
More than 1,100 students from three Edmonton Catholic schools head back to the classroom first thing Monday morning.
Mother Teresa Elementary, St. Alphonsus Elementary/Jr. High and St. Catherine Elementary/Jr. High are part of the Edmonton Catholic Year Round Schooling program, which gives students a shortened five-week summer break, a two-week break in the fall, a two-week Christmas break and a two-week spring break.
The number of instructional days for students is exactly the same for both the year-round calendar and the traditional calendar.
