RCMP in northern Alberta have laid charges against a man, after two men ended up in hospital following a fight, and one succumbed to his injuries.

High Level RCMP said officers were called to a disturbance at a local hotel early Thursday morning.

It was determined that two males, two brothers from the Fort Vermillion area, who had reportedly been involved in the altercation, had ended up at a High Level hospital.

Police said one of the brothers, a 21-year-old man, died while being treated, the other brother suffered less serious injuries and he was treated and released from hospital.

An autopsy has confirmed the deceased died as a result of homicide.

Investigators managed to track down a suspect at a nearby home, with the help of Police Dog services, and arrested him.

Now, Kevin Manfredo Munoz-Avilez is facing a charge of second degree murder and assault with a weapon.

The accused remains in custody, and will appear in a High Level courtroom January 20.
