Occupational Health and Safety officials are investigating after an incident on a work site near Joffre, Alberta left one man dead.
Blackfalds RCMP said officers were called to the Nova Chemicals PE1 Expansion Project at the Joffre Site on Wednesday, at about 10:13 a.m.
According to RCMP, a male contractor was working on a crane when a piece of equipment swung and hit him.
Emergency crews with Nova Chemical responded – the male reportedly had severe injuries.
He was taken to Red Deer hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
RCMP said Wednesday that OHS investigators were on site, and the investigation was ongoing.
