RCMP in Athabasca said one man was dead, after police were called to a domestic disturbance Monday evening.

Police were called to a home on Cornwall Drive in Athabasca early Monday evening, on reports of a domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived, they heard one gunshot – and the Edmonton RCMP Emergency Response Team was deployed, while residents were asked to stay in their homes.

An RCMP Crisis Negotiator was called in, and multiple attempts were made to get in touch with the occupant, but contact was not made.

Police entered the home, and found a man dead inside – only one person was inside at the time.

RCMP said no further updates on the incident would be released, and no information on the identity of the deceased would be released.
