Jasper RCMP said a man had to be airlifted to hospital in Edmonton, after he was struck by a vehicle in the Athabasca Falls parking lot.

On Wednesday, just before 1 p.m., Jasper RCMP officers were called to the Athabasca Falls parking lot, over reports a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle.

A 40-year-old man was taken to Jasper via ambulance, and was airlifted from there to Edmonton by STARS Air Ambulance.

Officers secured the scene, and a collision reconstructionist was brought in.

As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old male has been charged with careless driving, and driving without holding a subsisting operator’s licence.

The pedestrian suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
