Police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a fatal collision in Edmonton.

Ryan Richard Wilneff, 28, has been charged in a single-vehicle collision that left a 28-year old man dead on January 22, 2014.

According to police Wilneff was arrested in Grande Prairie on May 1.

Canada-wide warrants had been issued for his arrest after he left an Edmonton hospital where he was taken following the collision.  

The single vehicle collision happened on Gateway Boulevard and 61 Avenue around 2 a.m. when the jeep Wilneff was driving veered off the road.

The vehicle knocked down a light standard and hit several billboards and trees before crashing into the wall of a business.

The passenger in the vehicle died and Wilneff sustained non-life threatening injuries.  

He now faces charges of impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death, possession of a controlled substance and four breach of probation charges.

He is expected to be in court on May 7.
