Police determine suspicious package at WEM was a DVD player

After police were called to West Edmonton Mall Tuesday morning, over a suspicious package found on a bench inside, officers have wrapped up their investigation.

Officers with West Division were called to West Edmonton Mall just before 9 a.m. Tuesday over a suspicious package found on a bench in the mall’s upper level.

EPS said members from their Bomb Detail and Tactical Squad attended the scene, and found the package was actually a DVD player that had been left on the bench.

As a result, police said all entrances to the mall were once again open to the public later Tuesday morning.
