Edmonton police have been investigating a fatal collision in the city’s northeast.
Officials said the collision happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday on Yellowhead Trail near Victoria Trail.
Police said the vehicle was heading westbound on Yellowhead Trail when it lost control.
The female passenger died while the male driver was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.
Officials have closed down traffic in both directions on Yellowhead Trail between 50th Street and Victoria Trail.
Drivers have been advised to avoid the area and find other routes.
CORRECTION (13/10/14): Police initially reported the vehicle was travelling eastbound, later Sunday, they said the vehicle was actually headed westbound.
