Homicide detectives have been called in to investigate after a man was found dead in Old Strathcona.

Edmonton police responded to calls of a shooting at 104 Street and 81 Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Officials said they found the body of a man who had been fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“It is fortunate that no one else was injured because it is a busy area and there were a lot of people in that area at the time,” Patrycia Thenu a spokesperson for the Edmonton Police Service said.

There were no further details released but Thenu said investigators want to talk to anyone with information.

“There were quite a few people in the area so it is presumed that somebody knows what happened. Somebody saw something and detectives are asking those people to come forward with information.”

Anyone with information has been asked to contact police, 780-423-4567, #377 from a mobile phone or Crime Stoppers, 1-800-222-8477.
